A Curious George Party

When trying to decide what to do for Nixon's 2nd birthday, I was debating between his two favorite things, Curious George and Old McDonald (he's obsessed with the song). I went back and forth (knowing I had last year's birthday to compete with), but finally settled on Curious George and I LOVE how it turned out.

I found a couple ideas here and there, but there was one party I saw online, and I basically recreated everything she did, and I'm not too proud to say that. Why recreate the wheel right?
The Oreo truffles are a staple at our parties, and they're usually the first thing to go!
As I was coming up for food ideas, I couldn't help but want to do spaghetti because of George's friend Chef Pisghetti. He's an Italian chef whom George and the Man in the Yellow hat love.

My favorite element of the whole party was probably his cake. I looked for weeks trying to find a cake topper that was just right, but nothing was speaking to me. That was, until I found the little figurine on Amazon and had the idea of putting little helium filled balloons attached to him since so many pictures depict George flying in the sky hanging on to balloons. It was exactly how I envisioned it. The only probably was that water balloons don't hold helium very well, so before we did the cake, we had to fill and attach two new balloons, but it was totally worth it!

That face right there made all of the time I took preparing (I also made the backdrop out of tablecloths.. it took some time) worth it.
I originally planned on having the party outside, but the curse of the April birthday is that it brings April showers, and in our case, a downpour. So the pictures didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped, it wasn't ideal having it indoors, but this kid loved every minute, and that's what really matters!
We love our curious little monkey! Happy birthday Nixon!
