I've seen many posts on different social media platforms about the flowers, candies, etc. Well, Ethan knows me and knows that's not really my cup of tea. We decided, since we're trying to be a little less "spendy" with our money, we'd pass on the commercialization of it. You know the expression "labor of love?" Well that's what we did. To show our love we labored.
Ethan's dad has a separate office space from his office and it was needing a little TLC. He asked if we wanted to paint the two front rooms and we agreed. We had kind of put if off, and planned to do it this past weekend without really realizing it was Valentine's Day. But the work needed to be done, and Ethan's mom was gracious enough to watch Nixon while we worked.
We spent a few hours Friday night doing some prep work and on Saturday we got some work done. We got all of the trim sanded, caulked, and painted. We actually had a really good time working together and enjoyed uninterrupted time together. Was it my favorite activity in the whole world? Maybe not, but that could be said for most manual labor.
We finished up the day about 8:00PM, and headed home. We packed Nixon up in the carseat, and all of us, including Dwayne and Sarah, headed to Qdoba for dinner. It was cheap and absolutely delicious (my kind of food)!
I can't even express fully how much I love my valentine.
We've been through quite a bit together already, and I wouldn't want to go through it with anyone but him. There are days I look at him and think to myself, "Why did he choose me?" And while I may never fully understand the answer, I feel so blessed that he did. He's the celery to my peanut butter and I love him very much.
This year I was lucky enough to have added another valentine. He is so stinking cute, he kills me. He gives the best slobbery kisses and has a scream that could shatter glass. Every night I go in to his room to make sure he has his blanket over him, and every night I'm reminded how lucky I am to get the sweetest boy.
Happy Valentine's Day!
