Lake Powell Part One

Last week we had the opportunity to go with my best friend Brennan and her family down to Lake Powell on their houseboat for their yearly trip down there. We were beyond excited that they invited us and we were anxious the whole time before the trip.

We left Friday night after work and drove down to her parents house where we were all staying since we had to wake up early to get there at our check in time on the boat. There is a lot of work that goes into planning a trip like that and we were so grateful for her parents putting it all together. They were so amazing to let us come with them at the small price of doing a couple meals and paying our way down. We ended up driving down with Brennan and Austin and little Lainey so it would cut down on each of our gas price and we loved driving down with them.
Is she not one of the cutest little things you've ever seen? I'm in love with this little girl.
After a few stops and about a 9 hour drive we made it to the Wahweap Marina near Page, AZ where we put in. I had never been on a houseboat so I had no idea what to expect. We loaded all of our stuff onto the boat and were on the search for a beach to anchor our boat at. It took us a good 3-4 hours to find the place. There were boats all over the place and most of the good places were taken. We finally found our spot and the boat anchored.
The sun started to set and I knew that I was in for one of the most amazing trips. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and the company was amazing. We decided to get some sunset pictures. Brennan's little sister is a dancer and so I had her do a few shots for me. I love how it turned out.
We ended the night sleeping on the top of the houseboat with some of the clearest skies I've ever seen. I had no doubt it was going to be an amazing week!

New hair

For a while now I have wanted something different with my hair. The problem is that I'm not one of those people that don't do well with doing different things to my hair. My hair takes forever to grow, so it takes a lot of convincing to do something with my hair. So much so, that other than a trim I haven't done anything to my hair since the day before my high school graduation. This was it:
It eventually faded out nicely and I decided I would leave my hair untouched for almost five years. That was until this weekend. It's nothing too out there, but it was enough of a change to feel good about it. I trimmed quite a few inches off that needed to go, and then added a little melt to the color. Something fairly subtle. I absolutely love it. I didn't do before pictures per se, but this one gives a reasonable idea of what it was before.

After:
Like I said, subtle, but enough of a change for me! Thank you to my best friend, she's probably the only one that could have talked me into it!

One year

What I look forward to most about our future is having a family together. I posted back here about how much I adored watching him hold the little baby, and it's true. It melts my heart every time I see him play with or hold little kids, especially babies. There's nothing more attractive in my mind.

I have no doubt he is going to be an amazing father, and I can't wait until I get to see him with his own children. Until then, I'll soak it up watching him with all the other little kids in our lives.
I'm so grateful that I have had the last year being married to Ethan and I can't wait for the rest of eternity.

Happy 1st anniversary Ethan, I love you!

Favorite memory

One of my favorite memories so far (this was actually before we got married, but I'm still going to count it) was when Ethan surprised me with a visit. All of my family was in town for a family reunion and he was selling security in California. We were having a hard time because of the distance, planning a wedding, and I was getting ready to graduate.

I remember I wasn't having the best of time at the reunion because I was so upset Ethan wasn't there for it. We were sitting downstairs in the house we were all staying at just chatting with everyone. My mom's ears were bothering her so I was going to put some ear drops in. The video tells the rest of the story.
